The Deptford Literature Festival is coming back to Deptford on Saturday 18 March 2023! The Festival celebrates the diversity and creativity of Deptford and Lewisham through words, stories and performance, with the local community and accessibility at its heart. The theme for the 2023 Festival is climate, nature and food, with many events taking the theme as inspiration.
Deptford Literature Festival is aimed at local audiences, and will feature literature’s diverse rising stars in talks, workshops, performances and events for adults, children & families. For those not able to attend the events in person, there will be opportunities to take part at home.
We have three live opportunities for local writers and organisations to apply to take part:

TOKEN Magazine callout – a callout for London based writers of colour to submit short stories and pieces of life writing of up to 5,000 words around themes of climate, nature and food. Selected writers will be paid £75. Deadline: 10am Monday 9 January. Open Call for Festival activity – apply for one of 5x £600 commissions to deliver Deptford Literature Festival activity and be part of our great programme. Open to writers, artists, arts organisations, community organisations that are based in Deptford or Lewisham or London based but have strong connections to Deptford or Lewisham.
