Spread the Word x CRIPtic salon: Personal Archives – Fragments to Form with Peyvand Sadeghian

Explore how to work from the self and transform the personal into art for public audiences, balancing creative control with authenticity.

BOOK YOUR TICKET HERE ON EVENTBRITE.

Join Peyvand to explore methods for creating work from an autobiographical starting point, with a focus on establishing clear parameters and experimenting with the artistic form through which the personal is expressed. Through practical exercises and group discussion, you will reflect on how to maintain autonomy over your narratives while crafting engaging work that feels authentic and intentional.

There will also be a quickfire session designed to equip participants with methods for navigating the often complex process of turning lived experience into art. Whether you’re an artist, writer, or performer, this workshop offers a supportive space to explore how personal material can serve as a foundation for your creative practice.

The salon event is open to artists at any stage of their career—no prior experience with autobiographical work is necessary.

Participants are encouraged to take responsibility for their own wellbeing and to decide what they choose to share or withhold during the session.

Read your work during the open mic

There are five sharing spots available at the Salon. If you’d like to share your work, please complete the following form by 11am on Friday 28 February 2025: https://forms.gle/xRwxEtZeHbZ5auJ19

You’ll be asked to provide your contact details, a short bio and the piece you would like to read. The reading should last no longer than 5 minutes. We ask you to share the reading in advance so that we can send the work to our BSL interpreters, so that they can prepare for the event. You can submit your reading in written English, video or audio file format.
