Hosted by Nadeem Islam A Night in Sign is an hour of pure delight. Shining a spotlight on the UK’s most established and up-and-coming Deaf and hard of hearing artistis with poetry, dance, comedy, sign-song and more! This event will feature performances from Chris Fonesca and Zoë McWhinney. This event is open to both D/deaf and hearing audiences.

Access information:
- All of our in-person events Friday-Sunday, including this one, will be BSL Interpreted for audiences that require it. For workshops, you will be asked when booking your free ticket if you require the services of a BSL interpreter. For all workshops where one or more attendees require BSL interpretation, we will arrange for an interpreter to be there.
- This event is wheelchair accessible, with accessible toilets.
- Deptford Lounge has Changing Place facilities, an induction loop and assistance dogs are welcome. For more information: deptfordlounge.org.uk/access
- A quiet space is available during the day at Deptford Lounge, in the Music Room, on the first floor.

Chris Fonseca is a dance artist, mover, choreographer and writer. He has a career spanning over a decade and his work centres around empowering Deaf people and putting them front and centre. He was co-writer, choreographer and starred in Follow The Signs, which was his incredible life story told through the medium of hip hop gig theatre at the Soho Theatre.

Nadeem Islam is an actor and presenter. He has just been associate director for Mr Snow at Leeds Playhouse. Recent acting credits include The Father and the Assassin at the National Theatre and Antony & Cleopatra at Shakespeare's Globe. He also starred in ITV’s The Bay to great critical acclaim and has worked as BSL consultant on productions all over the UK.

Harry Jardine is a theatre director, writer and co-Artistic Director of Fuse Theatre. This year he directed Follow The Signs, a brand-new piece of BSL-led hip hop gig theatre for the Soho Theatre, which he co-wrote with Chris Fonseca.

Zoë McWhinney is a British Sign Language (BSL) poet, theatre maker, Visual Vernacular (VV) artist and one of the founders of BSL slam. She works as a freelance theatre-maker, consultant and workshop facilitator in BSL, storytelling and Deaf Culture. As an actress, she has performed internationally both on stage and in films.

Fuse Theatre was set up in January 2024. They are committed to creating groundbreaking bilingual theatre fusing BSL, music, dance and storytelling. A Night in Sign events were set up back in 2020 and have been put on in venues all over the UK for the last 4 years.
