The Poetry Translation Centre is the only UK organisation dedicated to translating and promoting contemporary poetry from Africa, Asia and Latin America. We publish books, organise events and deliver hands-on translation workshops that are open and inclusive to all. Central to our mission is exploring poetries from the home-cultures of the UK’s diverse diaspora communities, working in partnership with those communities.

Vietnamese Family Partnership (VFP, or ‘Gia Đình Việt’ in Vietnamese) is a local, London-based grassroots charity, which supports the Vietnamese community and promotes wider understanding of Vietnamese culture. VFP is also the parent organisation of VietSchool London. Their services now include our Advice & Support Centre as well as their Language School, offering Vietnamese and English classes. Each year they host events to bring the Vietnamese community together to celebrate the Lunar New Year and the Mid-Autumn/Moon Festival.

April Yee’s poetry, fiction, and essays have been named Best of the Net, two-time The Best American Essays Notable, and winner of the Manchester Fiction Prize and Ivan Juritz Prize. A Harvard alumna and former journalist, she reported in more than a dozen countries before moving to London, where she is a Spread the Word trustee and Refugee Journalism Project mentor.

Quynh Nguyen is the founder, CEO and Head Teacher of the Vietnamese Family Partnership, a charity based in Deptford dedicated to serving the local Vietnamese community through cultural events and language classes. She moved to London from Vietnam in 1994. Prior to setting up the VFP, Quynh worked for the NHS as a Public Health Programme Manager specialising in mental health for 15 years.

Phương Anh is a writer and translator from Vietnam, with works featured on Asymptote, Modern Poetry in Translation, PR&TA and in Here Was Once The Sea: An Anthology of Southeast Asian Eco-Writing among others. This year, they participated in NCW Visible Communities virtual residency, exploring the space between memory, archive and translation. They work part-time with Tilted Axis Press.

Nguyệt Phạm (b.1982) graduated from HCMC National University of Social Sciences and Humanities, specialising in Literature. She is the author of Dự báo phi thời tiết (2005), Mắt giấy (2007) and Phơi riêng tư (2018) which was awarded a prize by Vietnam’s Writer’s Association in 2018. In 2005, she was also awarded Best New Writer by Tuổi Trẻ magazine.Currently she resides in HCMCT, Vietnam.

Hiền Trang (b.1993) is a Vietnamese writer and translator based in Hanoi, with a diverse portfolio of nine published books, including novels, essays, and short story collections. Her most recent works are the novel Quán Bar Trong Bụng Cá Voi (2023) and the short story collection Những Khán Giả Ngồi Trong Bóng Tối (2023).

Đỗ Trung Quân is a Vietnamese poet, born in 1955. His poems have been set to music and are popular in Vietnam. He is also well known for his many other appearances in popular culture, working as an MC and acting in well known TV series. Do Trung Quan was born in Saigon and educated in Van Hanh University. In 1979, he joined the Youth Volunteer Movement and began to compose poetry. Some of his poems became famous and were set to music such as Hương tràm, written in 1978.
