Join us for an evening of poetry readings from acclaimed local poets Jacob Sam-La Rose and Ella Frears. This special Deptford Literature Festival edition of Lewisham Libraries’ roving monthly poetry evening will also feature a Q&A, and books to buy and borrow.

Ella Frears

Ella Frears is poet based in London. Her debut collection Shine, Darling was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection, and the T. S. Eliot Prize for Poetry. Her latest book Goodlord, which takes the form of one long email to an estate agent, was shortlisted for The Forward Prize and a Sky Arts Award.

Jacob Sam-La Rose is a celebrated poet, editor and educator. Among other appointments, he has served as poet-in-residence at Raffles Institution in Singapore, artistic director for the Spoken Word Education Programme at Goldsmiths UoL, and poetry professor at Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He founded and continues to lead the Barbican Young Poets programme. His current projects include work with Solis Ensemble, exploring possibilities for collaboration between poetry and contemporary classical music.
