Lewisham Libraries Celebrates Local Writers

A spoken word event celebrating Lewisham's writers and poets.

The title Deptford Literature Festival in chunky black lettering outlined in bright yellow, sits on a background in blue and pale blue. It’s an illustration that includes an image of a hand with a pen, a closed fist, and the words ‘whose stories are told?’, ‘resistance’, ‘community’, and ‘history’.

Free to attend. BOOK VIA EVENTBRITE HERE.

Join us as we celebrate the creative writing talents of members of writers’ and poets’ groups supported by Lewisham Libraries.

Coming together for the first time, local writers and poets from Lewisham Multicultural Writers’ Group (Deptford Library), Torridon Writers (Corbett Community Library) and Forest Hill Stanza (Forest Hill Library) will be sharing their literary works in this spoken word event.

You’ll get to hear poetry and stories full of the joys, the fears, and the ups and downs of life and meet other local writers. There’ll also be book signings and a zine launch.

If you’ve been thinking of joining a writers’ or poets’ group, don’t miss this opportunity to learn about the different groups taking place in Lewisham Libraries and meet some of the groups’ members. Each group offers a positive space where you can get those creative juices flowing with support and laughter.

“We bring our shared humanity to our meetings and support each other in life as well as in our writing. Twenty-three years of joy.” Torridon Writers

Presented by Lewisham Libraries as part of Deptford Literature Festival.
